Seaville Farmhouse |
Seaville farm is situated in quiet
countryside, close to The Solway Firth.
We have very quiet country lanes with almost no traffic - ideal for exploring on
foot or by bicycle.
A selection of bicycles of varying sizes is available for visitors' use, and are
always very popular with mums and dads as well as our younger visitors.
The bicycles have had their MOT for this year, ready for our not very taxing,
flat country lanes.
We also have pedal tractors, one with a loader and trailer, for any budding
farmers. |

Treat yourself to a
session in our Indoor Hot Spa.
The bubbling waters are complimented by soft lighting and cosy carpeting, in a
private in-door Log Cabin.
Why not pamper yourself a little while you are here ?
A glass of wine perhaps ?
Maybe a box of your favourite chocolates, with your hot spa ........... An
experience to remember. |
Our
trampoline is a big hit with everyone of all ages.
Quite often, usually in the evenings, we hear giggles and laughter coming
from the trampoline barn.
This usually means that some mums and dads have sneaked out for a quick go
and are re-living their youth - but feel free !
Kick off your
shoes,
and let it all hang out.

Donkeys.
At the end of September 2009, we acquired 2 donkeys, mother Molly and baby
Apache.
At that time, Apache was still totally dependant upon his mother.
Apache is very friendly and inquisitive, whilst his mother Molly, is a little
more reserved.
Come along and see them in their paddock.
They'll be very pleased to meet you.
We used to have a flock of around
100 free range hens, but during early 2006 we lost quite a few to a local fox.
If you happen to spot him, please let us know as we are very keen to make his acquaintance
!
The hens are always particularly pleased to see anybody, and will come
running to meet you at any time of the day, particularly if you have a
slice of bread in your hand.
"For the first time ever, I got to pick up a chicken" - A
comment from one of our young visitors.
Our rabbits are free range.
They have their own small enclosure with a small shed with a "bolt
hole" entrance.
As they are all does, we are not expecting them to increase in number.
They are reasonably tame, so if you would like to offer them a dandelion leaf or
two, feel free.
Wildlife
Whale watching, and seal spotting.
You can
porpoise watch at the nearby small coastal town of Silloth.
Porpoises have been seen quite often close to the shore.
Drive along the front in a northerly direction towards Skinburness, and park in
the "overflow" car park, just past the tennis courts. (We've
never seen enough traffic in Silloth to warrant this extra parking).
Park facing the sea, of course, and if you are lucky, you may spot a whale or
three 50 to 100 yards out or more..
They surface quite regularly, but do not blow spray.
They are black, and slightly smaller than a dolphin. Make sure you take
your binoculars, and maybe some fish and chips !
The occasional Atlantic Grey seal has been spotted in this same area. They
certainly live around the opposite coast on the Scottish side, towards the
western end of the peninsular.
Foxes
There are plenty of foxes in our area, but to see them, you may have to get up
early, or be out around dusk.
Deer.
Occasionally, we see deer on our
property. They are bold enough to venture within sight of the farmhouse,
but generally during the day they prefer plenty of cover, so they usually pay us
a visit during the evenings.
Otters and Badgers.
Though
very elusive, both have been seen in the area.
Otters in particular, are known to be increasing in number.
Hares.
There
are quite a number of hares in our fields and the surrounding countryside.
They are easily distinguished from rabbits by their greater size and their
larger upright ears.
Also you will probably view them for a longer time as
they are confident in open spaces and will settle down rather than immediately
run for cover, as rabbits do.
If you are really lucky, you may spot them "boxing" in the
fields.
All part of the "boy meets girl" scene here in the countryside. |

We look forward to meeting
you.
